One Liam in Three Persons by ninjaink One Liam in Three Persons by ninjaink
As a Catholic, and as a Christian in general, I'm often asked (or told) to explain the nature of the Trinity (one God in 3 Persons). It is a bit of a mystery that takes time and study to completely understand.

So I came up with this example, albeit an imperfect one: Liam Neeson. He's one guy, sure, but if you watch three of his movies at once, he's ONE Liam, an actor, representing THREE persons... at the SAME TIME!

Thank you, Liam Neeson, for helping us to (hopefully) better understand through an imperfect analogy the perfect nature of God. :)

This so blasphemous, but downright hilarious at the exact same time.

Its almost spooky, how fitting he seems for all of these godly roles :O Taking it a step further, I like to say that he's perfect more so for fatherly/father-figure roles, ranging from wise (i.e. Zeus, Aslan, Qui-Gon, etc.) to badass (Taken).

I always had a little reserved thought that Liam Neeson was God.

He can't be, because Morgan Freeman is God.

You have managed to combine to of my most favorite things in one picture: Catholicism/God and Liam Neeson. I salute you, good sir!

This is the best, simplest explanation of the Holy Trinity I have ever seen. You have another fellow Catholic's approval! Also: I will use this if anyone asks me how Christianity works :)

Hey, thanks! From one Catholic to another, it's rare to find someone who understands and appreciates the humor. :) Plus I'm in the South, where we're virtually extinct!

Liam Neeson himself looked a lot like Jesus in TPM

1 Chronicles 12:05: "Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah and Shephatiah the Haruphite;"

2 Chronicles 12:05: Then the prophet Shemaiah came to Rehoboam and to the leaders of Judah who had assembled in Jeruzalem for fear of Shishak, and he said to them, "This is what the LORD says, 'You have abandoned me; therefore, I now abandon you to Shishak.'"

It's actually rather amusing that there are actual Chronicles verses that can go with the Aslan reference, though it's a shame they don't fit the picture.

But yeah, this is a rather interesting way of trying to explain the Trinity. I find the use of Neeson's Zeus as God the Father both fitting and disconcerting and discomforting. Fitting because a big complaint about last years Clash of the Titans was that Neeson was basically playing (Judeo-Christian) God with shiny armour. Disconcerting and discomforting because, as bad as a lot of naysayers make God out to be in Old Testament, God NEVER was the selfish, prideful, lustful, unfair, unfaithful, rapist tyrant that Zeus was.

Still, I can't help but wonder what an Old Testament book called Titans would have been like. Maybe it could have been an epic like Exodus, with God versus Greek Mythology.

I read a comic book once that had the Greek gods showing up just after the Crucifixion to trash-talk Jesus.
Shugamri Featured By Owner Sep 8, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Yes, I remember hearing about that. Truth be told, while I did like the fact that Jesus proceeds to beat the living tar out of the Greek gods, I don't really care for that comic to be honest.

Man, try understanding the Hindu pantheon, who is one supreme being, split into multiple facets. We're talking in the HUNDRED variations here, short of the more famous ones.

nice job! i love what you did here :)

Actually i was thinking you shoulda did the "Taken" Liam for the Father. It fits almost perfectly. He represents a strong willed Father that will never let you go no matter what. And he is invincible to the forces of evil, with a strong vengeance :D

I like the addition of the line from the Talmud (did I get that right?) "Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire" which was what the Jews wrote on Schindler's ring (also played by Liam Neeson.) Movie reference extravaganza!
